ഉബുണ്ടു ഇൻസ്റ്റലേഷൻ

ഇതുവരെ പരിചയമില്ലാത്ത ഏതൊരു സംഗതികളെയും പോലെ ലിനക്സ് എന്ന ഓപ്പറേറ്റിങ് സിസ്റ്റവും അല്പം സന്ദേഹത്തോടെയാണ് സാധാരണഗതിയിൽ ഒരു  പുതിയ വ്യക്തി കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുക. ഈ കഴിഞ്ഞ ഏപ്രില്‍ മാസം ഉബുണ്ടു ഫെഡോറ എന്നിവയുടെ നിലവിലെ ഏറ്റവും പുതിയ വേര്‍ഷനുകള്‍ പുറത്തിറങ്ങുകയുണ്ടായി.വളരെ യൂസര്‍ ഫ്രണ്ട്ലി ആയ യൂസര്‍ ഇന്റര്‍ഫേസുകളും ഡെസ്ക്ടോപ്പ് പിസിക്ക് ആവശ്യമായ വിവിധ സോഫ്റ്റ് വെയറുകളൂം ഓണ്‍ ലൈന്‍ സപ്പോര്‍ട്ടും കൊണ്ട് മെച്ചപ്പെട്ടതായ ഇവ രണ്ടും വളരെ എളുപത്തിൽ എങ്ങനെ ഇന്‍സ്റ്റാള്‍ ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയും എന്നാണ്  ആർട്ടിക്കിളീൽ വിശദീകരിക്കുന്നത്.

ഉബുണ്ടുവിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും ലേറ്റസ്റ്റ് വേർഷൻ ഡൌൺലോഡ് ചെയ്യുന്നതിനായി ഈ ലിങ്കിൽ പോയാൽ മതിയാകും.

ബൂട്ടിങ്:
ഇന്‍സ്റ്റാള്‍ ചെയ്യാതെ ഉപയോഗിക്കാവുന്ന ലൈവ് സിഡിയായും ഇന്‍സ്റ്റലേഷന്‍ ഡിസ്ക് ആയും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്ക വിധമാണ് ഈ സി.ഡി ഡിസൈന്‍ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. സി.ഡി റോമില്‍ സി.ഡി ഇട്ട് കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ ബൂട്ട് ചെയ്യുക, ബൂട്ട് സോഴ്സ് സി.ഡി റോം തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കണമെന്ന് പ്രത്യേകം പറയേണ്ട കാര്യമില്ലല്ലോ. ബൂട്ട് ഇമേജ് ലൊക്കേറ്റ് ചെയ്ത് കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ ബൂട്ട് ചെയ്യാന്‍ ആരംഭിക്കും.

Idea Netsetter on Ubuntu

 Step 1.
 Login as root
Open computer
 Write the following in your /etc/wvdial.conf file, save and close:


[Dialer Defaults]
Modem=/dev/ttyUSB0
Baud = 460800
Init 1 = AT+CGMM
Init 2 = AT+CMEE=1
Init 3 = ATE0
Init 4 = AT^HS=0,0
Init 5 = AT+CFUN?
Init 6 = AT+CLCK="SC",2
Init 7 = AT+CPIN?
Init 8 = AT+CLCK="SC",2
Modem Type = USB MODEM
Phone=*99#
Username = idea
Password = idea
Dial Command=ATDT
Stupid Mode=1
ISDN=0
APN = internet


Step 2. Add the following lines to your /etc/network/interfaces file:

iface ppp0 inet ppp
provider ppp0
auto ppp0

It would look something like this (only the encircled part is important):




Step 3. Restart the network services by the following command:

$ sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

Step 4. Go to System-> Administration -> Network. You'd see something like this:

Uncheck the 'Wired' connection (disable it). Now go to the properties of Point to point connection do the following settings in the respective tabs:

[GENERAL]:

• Check on 'Enable this connection'
• Connection type: PPPoE
• Username: idea
• password: idea

[MODEM]:

• Ethernet interface: eth0

[OPTIONS]

• Check 'Set modem as default'
• Check 'Use the internet service provider nameservers'
• Check 'Retry if connection breaks'

Step 5. Again restart the network connection (step 3).

Step 6. Plug in your Idea Netsetter in one of the USB ports and run the following command in your terminal:

$ sudo wvdial


That's it .. if everything's fine wvdial would show your new Local and Remote IP address for the idea connection.

കീ ബോര്‍ഡ് ഷോര്‍ട് കട്ടുകള്‍.

                                            കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ കീബോര്‍ഡിലെ ചില കീകള്‍ പ്രത്യേക ആവശ്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കു വേണ്ടി ഉള്ളവയാണ്. പൊതുവായി സ്പെഷ്യല്‍ കീസ് ( Special keys) എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഇവ കണ്ട്രോള്‍ (Control), ആള്‍ട് (Alt) , ഷിഫ്ട് (Shift) എന്നിവയാണ്  കൂടാതെ ഫങ്ങ്ഷന്‍ കീകൾ എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന 12 കീകള്‍ ( എഫ് വണ്‍ ( F1 ) മുതല്‍ എഫ് ട്വെല്‍വ് (F12) ) കീബോര്‍ഡിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും മുകളിലെ വരിയില്‍ കാണാം.  ഇതിനു പുറമെയാണു നാവിഗേഷന്‍ കീകളും - ഇതില്‍ ആരോ കീ ( അപ് ആരൊ (Up Arrow), ഡൗണ്‍ ആരോ (Down Arrow), ലെഫ്റ്റ് ആരോ(Left Arrow), റൈറ്റ് ആരോ(Right Arrow)), പേജ് ഡൗണ്‍(Page Down), പേജ് അപ് (Page Up), എന്‍ഡ് (End), ഹോം(Home), ടാബ് (Tab) എന്നിവ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുന്നു. കൂടാതെ ഡിലീറ്റ്(Delete), ഇന്‍സെര്‍ട്ട്(Insert), എസ്കേപ് (Escape), (Space) തുടങ്ങിയ കീകള്‍ക്കും അവയുടേതായ പ്രത്യേക ഉപയോഗങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ട്.
